Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about the therapy process, what to expect, and how to get started. If your question is not answered here, feel free to reach out or book a free consultation.

  • Therapy can be helpful whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from support. Many people come to therapy because something in life feels hard to carry alone.

  • Not at all. Many people begin therapy because they are noticing stress, burnout, anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-worth, or patterns they want to better understand. Therapy can be a space for both support and growth.

  • Therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, stress, burnout, self-esteem, relationship patterns, emotional overwhelm, boundaries, life transitions, and identity exploration. We can work together to understand what is coming up for you and what support might be most helpful.

  • That is completely understandable. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if this is your first time or if past experiences with support have not felt helpful. You do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out. We can start where you are.

  • The free 20-minute consultation is a chance for us to briefly connect and talk about what is bringing you in, what kind of support you are looking for, and whether working together feels like a good fit. It is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have before booking a session.

  • The first session is a chance to get to know you and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy. We may talk about what feels most important right now, some of your history, and what you are hoping for from the process. There is no pressure to share everything all at once.

  • No. Therapy does not require you to revisit every difficult experience in order for it to be helpful. We move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive. Often, therapy begins with building safety, understanding patterns, and creating more steadiness in the present.

  • Progress in therapy does not always look dramatic or immediate. Sometimes it shows up in quieter ways, like feeling more grounded, noticing patterns sooner, setting clearer boundaries, responding differently in relationships, or feeling more compassion toward yourself. We can check in together about how things are feeling along the way.

  • Yes. I offer in-person sessions in Burlington, Ontario and virtual therapy for clients anywhere in Ontario. Both options can be meaningful and effective, and we can discuss what feels like the best fit for you.

  • Individual therapy sessions are $150 per 50-minute session. If you have questions about fees, receipts, or coverage, feel free to ask during your consultation or before booking.

  • Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist, but coverage can vary depending on your plan. You will receive a receipt after each session that you can submit for reimbursement. It can be helpful to check with your provider in advance to confirm your coverage.

  • You can start by booking a free consultation or reaching out through the contact page. From there, we can talk about what support you are looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
